Epic Games’ employee gift hints at LEGO Fortnite rumour

In case it wasn’t clear, there’s a LEGO Fortnite collaboration coming soon and a new employee gift may have partially confirmed a recent rumour.

Matt Argueta, producer at Fortnite and Epic Games, has shared an image of a unique ornament that features what is undeniable a LEGO minifigure in the corner of the Epic Games logo.

According to GMatrixGames, this is the Epic Games employee ornament for 2023, similar to the annual LEGO set that the LEGO Group’s employees are given including this year. Based on the design and the presence of previous Epic Games employee ornaments, this would make sense

The ornament features icons representing several games and products under Epic Games’ umbrella, including Fall Guys, Rocket League, the Unreal Engine, Rock Band and Fortnite. As GMatrixGames points out, these could also all be referencing rumoured or current additions to Fortnite, which might explain the minifigure in the bottom left.

There’s little doubt that some kind of LEGO collaboration is coming to Fortnite now after 5008257 MS Llama appeared in the game. Rumours that have surfaced since the Llama was found in Fortnite suggest that minifigure versions of existing Fortnite skins and various minifigure parts will appear in the reported LEGO mode.

The Big Bang event is taking place in Fortnite later this week, December 2, at 2:00pm ET. The key art for the event features the LEGO Llama so we can likely expect more news during the event.

The fact that a minifigure appears on the Epic Games ornament may suggest that minifigures are involved in the collaboration in some way.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
