LEGO Disney Pixar’s Lightyear sets officially revealed

The LEGO Group has unveiled three new sets based on Disney Pixar’s upcoming Toy Story spin-off movie Lightyear.

Buzz Lightyear’s origin story (because it’s 2022, and every character needs an origin story) lands in cinemas in June, but a trio of tie-in LEGO sets will arrive on shelves two months earlier on April 24. And they’re surprisingly affordable, topping out at £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99 for 76832 XL-15 Spaceship, which includes 497 pieces and three minifigures.

The other two sets each include a mech of sorts, including one that’s reminiscent of 2010’s 7591 Construct-a-Zurg in 76831 Zurg Battle. That set also packs in alternate head and hairpiece combos for its Space Ranger minifigures, Buzz Lightyear and Izzy Hawthorne, and Sox, who’s apparently a robot cat. The smallest set of the wave, 76830 Zyclops Chase, has a 4+ age mark – and a simplified build to match.

Check out all the details on (and images of) the three new Lightyear sets below.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
