LEGO Star Wars 75331 The Razor Crest designers had clues about the ship’s on-screen future
The LEGO designers who worked on 75331 The Razor Crest were given subtle warnings of the iconic ship’s imminent demise.
Warning: spoilers ahead for The Mandalorian Season 2.
When asked about when they found out about the Razor Crest’s tragic crash by Zusammengebaut at a press event, as seen on their TikTok, LEGO designer César Soares said he was midway through designing the ship when he saw the crash on the show.
“We were surprised and we had a discussion about it,” he laughed.
The second designer who worked on 75331, Jens Kronvold Frederiksen, chimed in that the LEGO Group was only told that ‘something could happen to the ship’, which was met with widespread laughter.
In the show, as any viewers will know, the Razor Crest is blown up in Season 2, Episode 6 of The Mandalorian. This leads Din Djarin to have to find a second, smaller ship, the N-1 Starfighter, that has also been reimagined in bricks in 75325 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter.
Although big franchises like Star Wars and Marvel do share some secrets with the LEGO Group for the accuracy and quality of the sets, hearing from the two designers highlights how some reveals are still left to be revealed on screen. In this case, it was lucky they did, or the design could have been rehashed to just a pile of studs on the floor.
LEGO Star Wars 75331 The Razor Crest is available to order both in-store and online via LEGO.com for £519.99 in the UK, $599.99 in the US, and €599.99 across Europe
