Disney Plus welcomes five Spider-Man films
Five Spider-Man films have made their way onto Disney+, suggesting that the Sony-Disney deal is still falling into place.
Despite Disney being the place to watch all of the MCU, Spider-Man films are another thing altogether, even Tom Holland’s trilogy that falls within the MCU franchise. Sony still owns the rights to Spider-Man titles, meaning that many of the films have been jumping around from streaming platform to streaming platform.
Now five of them have finally joined the rest of the Marvel library on Disney+, with Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, and The Amazing Spider-Man all available to watch from today (April 21), while Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man-adjacent film, Venom, becoming available from May 12.
This is likely the ongoing effect of the deal struck between Disney and Sony, details of which have been kept under wraps even a year on from its signing. However, the fact that the impact from the deal is still being felt means that there could be even more changes in store as a result of what was agreed.
This could mean more Spider-Man sets or indeed more variety in the sets. With animated film Across the Spidey-Verse on its way, we’re certainly keen for LEGO sets that make the most of its stunning graphic style. While fan-made builds like this one are great, seeing what the LEGO designers could do with it would be a real treat.
For now, we’ll have to content ourselves with going back to watch every one of the Spider-Man films on Disney+ – which is still missing a few, such as Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the second two from Holland’s trilogy, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home, as well as the sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
