LEGO Ideas Daft Punk – The Robots has cracked the 10K charts

Electronic music duo Daft Punk have been immortalised in a LEGO Ideas submission that has managed to notch up 10,000 supporters.

One of the most enigmatic musical duos of all time are the basis for the latest LEGO Ideas design to reach the 10K supporters’ mark. Based on the iconic helmeted alter egos of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homen-Christo, Daft Punk – The Robots is the creation of fan designer, eliot.obrien.

Similar in appearance to the LEGO Marvel and LEGO Star Wars helmet collections, Daft Punk – The Robots showcases the distinctive silver and gold headgear the band first wore starting with the release of the album, Discovery, in 2001. The fan designs feature faithful recreations of each metallic helmet that are displayed on their own separate custom stands.

Achieving the mainly-curved shapes of the Daft Punk – The Robots helmets was said to be something of a challenge for eliot.obrien, although he used some real ingenuity in repurposing the windscreen piece from 75060 Slave 1 to complete the look of Guy-Manuel’s build.
