LEGO Ideas fan designer compares first and final builds

The fan designer for LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin has shared a comparison image of the very first iteration of the model and the final product.

Andrea Lattanzio submitted the original design for the A-Frame Cabin model, which isn’t too far off from the final product that will make it onto shelves in February. It seems therefore only fair that he’s got his hands on an early release of 21338 A-Frame Cabin (or several judging from this other Instagram post), which he finished building yesterday (January 24) and shared a snap of both the finished build and his original prototype on Instagram.

“From the prototype to the official set: I’m in love with these beauties!” wrote fan designer Andrea Lattanzio in the caption. “I’ve just finished building the A-Frame Cabin set and it’s finally next to its big brother, the prototype that started it all. How exciting to see ’em side by side and relive the journey that lasted more than two years, from the building of the MOC to the submission on LEGO IDEAS and finally on the shelves of LEGO Stores around the world.”

“LEGO designers have made the most of my original idea and they made my ‘illegal’ building style something you can find in an official LEGO set, and that’s insane!” he continued. “The whole set is a pleasure to behold, I couldn’t ask for more than this. There will be some good news soon. Stay tuned, stay focused and keep building.”

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
