One of LEGO Ideas’ most prolific members takes 15th project to 10K

LEGO Ideas fan designer Pablo Sánchez Jiménez has taken his 15th project to the review stage, cementing his status as one of the platform’s most prolific members.

The builder behind 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay now has a total of three different projects in the first 2023 review alone, as his split-level Ice Cream Parlor joins Claus Toys and Brick Boulevard in contention to become an official set. Jiménez has published a total of 80 different product ideas, contest entries and activity submissions to LEGO Ideas over the past few years, and will be hoping at least one of these latest 10K projects can double his set count.

Ice Cream Parlor toys with the established formula for modular buildings, splitting its focus between a street-level scene and a subterranean ice cream shop. It’s packed with internal and external details from top to bottom, and is designed to connect to both other elevated buildings and the official LEGO Modular Buildings Collection (once you remove the train tracks).

Jiménez submitted his Ice Cream Parlor to Ideas at the end of January, so it’s taken just under three months to rack up the necessary support to progress to the review stage. It’s got plenty of competition in this round, though, as a record-breaking 65 entries are now vying to get the green light from the LEGO Group. Any that do will one day arrive on store shelves as official products.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
