See how LEGO 71799 NINJAGO City Markets lines up with 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens

A brand new LEGO NINJAGO modular building is on the way in just a few weeks in 71799 NINJAGO City Markets, so here’s how it looks next to the current 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens.

Debuting on June 1 alongside the rest of the LEGO NINJAGO summer 2023 wave, 71799 NINJAGO City Markets is the biggest NINJAGO set of all time, weighing in at 6,163 pieces. With 21 minifigures in the box (including some NINJAGO deep cuts), it’s another treasure trove for ninja fans that’s also sure to find an audience beyond the core NINJAGO fanbase.

That’s thanks in part to being the fourth entry in an ever-growing line of LEGO NINJAGO modular buildings, which originally kicked off in 2017 with 70620 NINJAGO City. Since then, 70657 NINJAGO City Docks and 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens have joined the fray – the latter of which is still available at LEGO.com and on LEGO Stores shelves, having only launched in 2021.

Alongside the reveal of 71799 NINJAGO City Markets, the LEGO Group has published an image of how its most recent and upcoming NINJAGO modulars display together, and the results are about as eclectic and colourful as you’d imagine. 71799 NINJAGO City Markets doesn’t quite reach the same heights as 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens, but it comes in at double the width of the previous building’s main structure.

Sitting over two 32×32-stud baseplates, 71799 NINJAGO City Markets is a whopping 64 studs (or around 51cm) wide. And it looks to at least be taller than 70657 NINJAGO City Docks, so should help the flow between all four buildings when slotted in between the rest of the range. The layout presented here is just one option, too: 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens could easily sit at the other side of the markets, for example.

We’ll have to wait until 71799 NINJAGO City Markets arrives on shelves to see how it looks next to 70620 NINJAGO City and 70657 NINJAGO City Docks, as the LEGO Group hasn’t published any images of the new set with those retired releases. That’s in line with its approach to the Modular Buildings Collection, however: lifestyle images typically only show new sets alongside other currently-available models.

71799 NINJAGO City Markets launches June 1 (in VIP early access) for £319.99 / $369.99 / €369.99. Click here to take a closer look at the model.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
